Jacob Elordi will star as Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola’s ‘Priscilla’

Sofia Coppola has set her sights on her next film as the Oscar-winner is set to direct the feature film Priscilla, which is based on the memoir Elvis and Me by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley with Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi set to play Priscilla and Elvis Presley. Published in 1985, Presley’s intimate account of her life with Elvis became a New York Times Bestseller and an international sensation. Coppola adapted the script as well.

Insiders say Coppola had been eyeing this film for some time as her follow-up to On The Rocks and began putting the pieces together to the film off the ground by this fall. While she met with a number of actors for the Elvis role (with Elordi ultimately landing the highly coveted role), Spaeny has been her top choice from day 1 for the role of Priscilla.

Coppola, Henley, Lorenzo Mieli of The Apartment, a Fremantle Company and American Zoetrope will produce the film and The Apartment, a Fremantle Company and Sony’s Stage 6 Films will finance the film. A24 will distribute in North America, Vision Distribution will distribute in Italy (and then become a Sky exclusive), Stage 6 Films/Sony Pictures International Releasing will distribute in the rest of the world.

David Harbour Picks Jacob Elordi to Play Young Hopper in Potential ‘Stranger Things’ Prequel

David Harbour isn’t precious when it comes to the future of his fan-favorite “Stranger Things” character Jim Hopper. In a recent interview with GQ magazine, the actor said he is eager to see another performer take over the role should series creators Matt and Ross Duffer decide to create a spinoff series centered on the character. Harbour even has his pick for the actor who should play a young Hopper in a “Stranger Things” prequel series: “The Kissing Booth” and “Euphoria” star Jacob Elordi.

“He could pull off being as handsome as I was at 20,” Harbour quipped to GQ.

The actor added, “At this point, I think Hopper is a character that can exist independent of me. If they wanna go back in time, forward in time… I’d love to see another actor play Hopper, and see what they can bring to it…. I think as soon as the show ends, or maybe six months before it ends, you’ll be hearing about whatever spin-offs [the Duffer Brothers] have planned.”

The Duffer Brothers are developing at least one “Stranger Things” spinoff, although they haven’t even told Netflix yet what the idea is behind it. Will the spinoff involve Hopper? It doesn’t sound like it, as the Duffer Bros. are already on record saying the spinoff will be “1000% different” from the original series and not center on any existing main characters.

Deep Water (2022): Release Date

The film’s release was postponed twice, but is now set to stream on Prime Video from March 18th.

Deep Water follows Vic and Melinda Van Allen, a wealthy couple going to some steep lengths to keep their rocky marriage together. When the men involved in Melinda’s entanglements start going missing, the pair’s mutual resentment and mind games escalate in the deadliest of ways.

Directed by Fatal Attraction’s Adrian Lyne, Deep Water is full of stars. The screenplay’s written by Zach Helm and Sam ‘Euphoria’ Levinson, and the cast includes Jacob Elordi, Rachel Blanchard, and Lil Rel Howery, to name a few.

This is Adrian Lyne’s first directorial film in 20 years, and dark twisted relationships are kind of his forte – he’s also behind Indecent Proposal. The story’s adapted from the novel Deep Water, written by Patricia Highsmith, the author that spawned the stories of Strangers on a Train and Carol. If those credentials are anything to go by, Deep Water will be well worth the wait.

News & Photos: Vanity Fair

Every generation has its heartthrobs; Gen Z has Jacob Elordi. The lothario of streaming, thanks to Netflix’s The Kissing Booth trilogy, shocked Hollywood as a demented jock in HBO’s Euphoria. Next, he’ll tangle with Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas in Adrian Lyne’s erotic adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s classic thriller Deep Water—this Australian-born movie buff is picking his roles to build a leading man that lasts.

Elordi was auditioning for Australian soaps in Sydney and studying Noah Baumbach films when he landed The Kissing Booth. “I’m a purist and love the movie theater, so I had this weird moral battle of ‘What am I aiding and abetting? Am I the face of this robotic, terrifying new age? Am I murdering this thing that I love?’ But there was this mentality of, ‘I’ll do whatever the fuck I’ve got to do to get to the United States and do what I love.’ ”

The movie spawned two sequels. “This is really the last kiss,” he says of the final installation.

He fumbled his Euphoria audition but “got a callback and met Sam [Levinson]; he will stop at nothing to get that goal. To be one of the soldiers out there for him…that’s the environment I love to work in.”

He wasn’t surprised when Zendaya made Emmy history as the youngest-ever best actress in a drama series. “She’s a power unto herself and so talented, such a sweetheart.”

Affleck, his colleague in Deep Water, is “a hero”—“I have a picture in my house of him and Matt Damon with the Oscars for Good Will Hunting”—and he was thrilled to work with Lyne following his nearly 20-year hiatus. Elordi plays Charlie, a classical pianist and lover to de Armas’s character. “She had me on my toes and was surprising every single take.”

His perfect date is “a night in Paris with wine, and you’re dressed to the nines,” but he’s still adjusting to dating in the public eye (and has been snapped jet-setting with model Kaia Gerber). “You want it to be genuine and real and have all the feelings of what you read in 1920s literature, but when people are watching and talking about it, it makes it a little bit difficult.”
